Bert’s on Thursday: Colton Rhody & Cody Purvis

How many twists of fate and random coincidences  does it take for two ultra-talented musicians to wind up on the stage together at Bert Driver’s Burlap Room on a chilly Tennessee Thursday night and proceed to blow all the Burlappers away?

Whatever that astronomical number might be, the result was an evening of FINE musical talent on display on the Solstice Stage as Colton Rhody and Cody Purvis warmed up the house with their  “90’s Country Music, Classics from the Greats (Merle, Keith Whitley, Waylon),  and original tunes from Cody’s current recording project. “  (Be sure to check out Overnight, Cody Purvis’s new single being released on 3/1/22)  Cody’s already had Top 50 hit songs on Spotify and has the Nashville Music Row folks all abuzz about him again as the entire music industry starts to crank back up from the Covid clampdown.

Let me tell you folks, I’m a musician myself,  and there’s something truly intimidating about trying to entertain a sizable  audience with “just an acoustic guitar and a voice”  in today’s live music venues, where we all are used to hearing full bands w/ multiple synthesizers, much electric guitars, pre-recorded loops,  and thumpin’ subwoofer sound systems.

I’m being serious here–I’d be willing to thrust these two guys on ANY stage in front of ANY crowd with zero trepidation about “crowd reaction”-  You see, Colton and Cody have a secret weapon….”real talent”, and that, my dear friends, works EVERY time.

Sorry if you missed this rare, unique musical evening of two of the best, just “doin’ what they do” right here in their own hometown backyard!  (Be sure to visit Colton Rhody’s Facebook Page for tons of great guitar tips/ lessons/ performances, etc.)

Will Colton Rhody and Cody Purvis be appearing again at Bert Driver’s Burlap Room or maybe the Harvester in downtown Smithville when it opens in just a few more weeks? Count on it!
