2022 Concert Series Kicks off with Lebowski by the Lake

The first ever Lebowski by the Lake officially kicked off the 2022 Concert Series at BDBR - the first of ten shows that stretch from now all the way to October. Fire pits were lit, and music and laughter filled the air. Sammy’s Lao Mobile Kitchen (Thai food truck) was on point and kept everyone’s belly full for an evening under the stars. Burlappers even witnessed a prize-winning 1st Place Chopper Motorcycle. There was a spirited round of trivia just before a costume contest featuring several Jeff Lebowski lookalike Westerley Cardigans, but in the end, it was Maude who stole the show and awarded a Blueberry Bush from Bert Driver Nursery.

Kinfolk, the Judd family band from Cookeville, blew us away with classic rock n’ roll that included everybody from Bonnie Raitt to Grand Funk Railroad, and from Joe Cocker to CCR. Their harmony showcased with some blue-eyed soul renditions by Hall and Oates. With Lorie Judd on bass, Nick Judd on the drum kit, and Stevie Judd and Chad Judd trading parts on both lead and rhythm guitar, this powerhouse group showed off skills and talent that had the Solstice Stage rocking - efficient, clean, tight-knit fashion especially on the Allman Brothers’ classic “Whipping Post”. Burlappers were out of the elements and inside the toasty confines of the greenhouse at Bert Driver Nursery…the perfect backdrop for an early spring evening in Smithville, Tennessee.

The harmony that we all get to experience at BDBR was embodied by both those in attendance and the sponsors that embody the very essence of our lifestyle here in the Upper Cumberland playland - music, craft beer, boating, lake homes, trees/plants and cannabis products, and as always, local spirit that fills your soul! Many thanks to our sponsors (who were onsite) for being part of this endeavor - Anderson Marine trailed a beautiful red Heyday WT-SURF displayed by the Redbud stage, along with a line of clothing products and Costa Sunglasses. Burning Acre brought both their fine luxury edibles, and their knowledge of all things cannabis. Crooked Creek Design from Gainesboro had an impressive display of unique jewelry for everyone. Center Hill Realty and Chalets brought their crew and owner Robin Driver praised his crew of agents from the stage who opted to hang at the Burlap Room on a Saturday evening over an Awards Show being held in Nashville.

Thank you to all the little Lebowski Burlappers who attended – these concerts and experiences are impossible without you!  Welcome to our newcomers from all over the nation who have found a new home in DeKalb County and Middle Tennessee,  from places like San Diego, Milwaukee, Austin and Louisville. The next event in our 2022 Concert Series is the 2nd Annual Great Center Hill Lake Crawfish Boil featuring a live musical performance by Soul Project from New Orleans - get your tickets HERE. And be on the lookout for second edition of the Burlap Room Newsletter coming out this week (hint: concert announcement!). Sign up below to receive updates on our calendar and specials.
